The Inaba Laboratory is a new research group launched in April 2026. Through the design of biomolecules such as peptides and proteins, we aim to understand and control the fundamental components of life. We are looking for motivated members to join us in developing original science and exploring new research frontiers. Skills You Will Develop Through Your Research
Experimental and Analytical Skills
Our research involves a wide range of experimental and analytical techniques, including peptide synthesis, protein engineering, the design of artificial peptides and proteins, cell experiments, and microscopy measurements. You will have the opportunity to learn the techniques required for your research from the fundamentals.
Presentation Skills
We actively present our research at seminars, workshops, and conferences in Japan and abroad. Through these opportunities, you will develop the ability to clearly communicate the significance and excitement of your research.
Communication Skills for Collaborative Research
We conduct collaborative research with scientists at Kyoto University, the University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, and other institutions, as well as with researchers in the United States and China. Through discussions with researchers from a variety of fields and backgrounds, you will develop the communication skills needed to carry out successful collaborative research.
The Ability to Think Independently, Take Action, and Communicate Research Outcomes
You will develop the ability to determine how to advance and expand your research project and how to present your findings in a scientific paper. Through discussions with members, we hope to support you in taking the initiative and pursuing research that you find exciting.
Eligibility
Doctoral Program
We welcome students who wish to pursue a doctoral degree in our laboratory. We also encourage applications for financial support programs available to doctoral students, including the JST Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation program, known as SPRING, and the JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists, DC. Potential financial support from research funds available in our laboratory, including the JST FOREST program, will be discussed individually based on factors such as the proposed research topic and the intended starting date. We are also happy to provide advice on preparing application materials. If you are considering applying for a fellowship or entering the doctoral program, please contact us to discuss the available options.
Master’s Program
We welcome applications from students at Hiroshima University as well as those from other universities. If you are interested in our laboratory, please contact us first. Through a laboratory visit or meeting, we can discuss your research interests, the projects you would like to pursue, and the possibility of joining our laboratory.

Undergraduate Students
As a general rule, undergraduate students join our laboratory through the laboratory assignment system of the Department of Chemistry, School of Science, Hiroshima University. Please refer to announcements from the department for information about the assignment schedule and procedures. We welcome laboratory visits and inquiries from undergraduate students who are considering joining our laboratory. Meetings can be arranged either online or in person. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
Postdoctoral Researchers
We welcome researchers who are considering applying for a JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists, PD, with our laboratory as their host institution. We encourage applications not only from researchers whose work closely aligns with our current research but also from those who can bring new techniques, research subjects, or perspectives to the laboratory. If you are considering applying, we would be pleased to discuss your research plans with you.
Assistant Professor Positions
A specially appointed assistant professor position may become available in the future. Any official job opening will be posted on this website. We also welcome inquiries about potential opportunities and our research activities. Researchers from different disciplines and backgrounds who can bring new perspectives and techniques to our laboratory are encouraged to contact us.

You do not need to have fully developed all of these abilities before joining the laboratory. We hope to learn and develop them together through our research activities.
